I "Dig" Incubus [08 Dec 2006|10:39am]

I am a film major at the University of Alabama... Actually we only shoot with miniDV and soon HD cameras(next semester). I wanted to do the music video for "Dig" and I have the capacity, but I would have logistics issues with getting talent and locations... but I would do it if I had the time and meins. I do have access to Final Cut Pro 5 so I could do a video with the supplied videos, but I don't have the time *finals are next week. I will not have access to our FCP lab after that. I am currently editing a video that I shot for Quick Sand, but it's not impressive. When I started that video I didn't know about the I Dig Incubus project... I wish I knew then what I know now!

I may send in my Quick Sand video to the address listed on the sight any way.

BTW: does anyone know why Incubus didn't include Punch Drunk and Look Alive on Light Grenades? I think the two songs match the album. (well punch drunk is a bit slow)

Light Grenades!!! [28 Nov 2006|07:35am]

Well the UPS truck came late, but I finally got my Light Grenades album yesterday! I listened to it 2 1/2 times in a row and I think that it's really awesome. My favorite songs now are "Light Grenades", Paper Shoes, and Love Hurts. I was also a bit shocked that this album is squeaky clean. I guess Incubus likes to do clean then not so clean albums one after the other. You can tell that Brandon's singing style has changed for good (compared to MYS)... I liked the sound that they used in "Light Grenades" and I really like the "Earth to Bella" songs. The guitar parts seem to be low in volume compared to ACLOTM. I kind of wish that they would have included "Inspiration" and some other stuff from StealthI also liked the artwork that accompanied the songs in the lyric sheet. I'm glad I pre-ordered because I am sure that the music stores are going to run out around lunch time today.

Is this group dead? [13 Oct 2006|12:10pm]

I just pre-orderd Light Grenades... I hope I get a chance to see them at Tabernacle in Altlanta.

Does anyone have any Incubus interviews they are willing to share to with me? Thanks

Make a Move! [22 Jun 2005|08:50am]

[ mood | grateful ]

Has anyone heard anything about the up coming album? Anyway, as you may know "Make a Move" from "Stealth" will be coming out on the sound track on the 12th and the movie itself will be out on the 29th. I just saw the video for "Make a Move"! It was ok and if you get a good look at Brandon's sleeve, you'll notice that it says "food not bombs", of course it could pertain to the movie and other things... I really felt like the guys decided to revisit the warmth and harmony of "Morning View" but with some of the strenght of "Make Yourself". But it has an ACLOTM undertone. It's pretty good. I also felt that it would probably get some radio play! Incubus hasn't had any real radio play in a while, but this song is mellow enough to make it to TRL possibly. I didn't think taht it was too soft, but about as soft as Morning View over all, so it isn't a complete 180.

I hope that the next album has melodic pieces like this one but with a few really hard hitting songs with deep lyrics. I just hope they don't go pop (I doubt they will)! I'll definately play their new stuff at the student station at my college!

PS: Can anyone tell me if they have a release date out for the next album?!

Don't you guys think that Vitamin should have been the song of choice for The Matrix? It almost seems to fit as the perfect theme... Almost all of the lyrics line up with the overall theme of the movie.

Here are some concepts that I match

The begining spoken words in Vitamin= the star of the movie discovering the truth about the Matrix

hybernating human animal= the people that know about "reality" that fight the machines...

Sleep Machine= the device that the people use to inter the Matrix

You stare at me like I'm a vitamin, on the surface you hate, but you know you need me... That's practically the movie!

There are some others too... I didn't know if anyone had noticed it.

ACLOTM re-release CD/DVD [03 Feb 2005|03:45pm]

I just have a question... Is the new CD/DVD just the same as the original release with the CD and DVD separate? I know that the new one is double sided and and it has all of the video from the original two disc release. I'm just wondering if they may have put anything extra on this new release like a secret computer game or something ie. the original release of .I.E.N.C.E..

This is the Sony discription

"1 Disc. Unlimited Possibilities!
The A Crow Left Of The Murder DualDisc features Incubus' entire CD album on one
side, and the OTHER SIDE is a DVD
featuring the entire ACLOTM album in enhanced LCPM Stereo, and live video clips
"Lollapalooza", "Bridge School Benefit", "While We Were
Out" (making of the new album), "Brandon's Injury".
It hits stores February 8, but you can pre-order it online http://gold.sonymusic.com/click/17435/02rm0yzr8
for direct delivery right to you!"

As you can see, it's the same as everything on the ACLOTM DVD...

Sorry guys! [10 Jan 2005|08:32am]

In my review of the Incubs DVD and CD "Alive at Red Rocks" I meant to list these songs as being on the CD:

1. Monuments and Melodies
2. Pantomime
3. Follow
4. Are You In
5. Circles

my mistake...

Incubus Alive at Red Rocks-- My opinion [05 Jan 2005|01:16pm]

Well it seems to mee that this DVD and CD were meant to sort of give the concert experience to those that may not have been able to see a concert from their last tour. The DVD is basically a concert with bonus footage of fans and a little behind the scenes type stuff. Other than that, it's pretty much a ACLOTM tour concert.

I'm glad they actually did this because alot of people that aren't as fortunate as those that have been able to go to a concert will be able to see exactly how the band does a strait concert. I felt like this DVD really was like watching the concert with the benifit of close ups and different angles. It also made me remember alot of the things that they did. Of course segments like the drum breaks and the covers woven into their most popular songs shows the bands talent: ie. "I can not only sing my song well, but I can steal your song and add it to mine". I don't think that people can really see how good Incubus is just by watching a music video or just by listening to a CD. Watching them perform live shows you the real talent that they have. That's why they did this! To expose their live experience to those that may not have been able to see it in person.

Also I looked at the "hard core fans" and many of them said that they had some trouble in their lives but listening to incubus really helped... I felt the same way that they did! I would blast Make Yourself on my stereo when I was depressed and it just eased me. To me Make Yourself has been the most influencial album that I have ever heard.

On the Bonus CD... I felt like the band perhaps felt like they had cheated their American fans by releasing the bootlegs... They had songs that weren't apart of the album yet they released them on an un officail album that wasn't available to people that only bought their music in stores. So basically they made an "American Bootleg".... The Bonus CD has Pantomime(currently stuck in my head) as well as Monuments and Melodies. To go along with those two previously un officially released tracks (in the US) they included live performances of Circles and 11 am. They also released "Follow" from Halo...

My opinion on the song Follow
Personally I felt that they must have written and recorded this song just for the video game... The song really isn't Incubus' style though... I felt that the intro was really neat but it sounded like something that they thought would sound good to match other songs on a video game. The "core" of the song really lacked the lyrical meaning of songs that they had recorded for albums. Follow really sounds like they were in a pinch to do a song to go with a video game. It doesn't have the complex dialog of their other songs. It seemed to me that the lyrics refering to "shiny boys toys" really just was their reflection on the video game (a given). How ever I do think that the song instrumentally picks up where the lyrics left off... Jose and Mike really did a great job of trying to out play each other! The drum piece is a work of art and the rest of the instrumentals compliment. I didn't mean to make this out to be a "bad song", but it's sort of like Croded Elevator... It's more in line with what other artist are doing.

Oh well...
those are my opionions
(insert your lyrics here)
